I was wondering if Guelph has any kind of support group for gay youth?

Question: I was wondering if Guelph has any kind of support group for gay youth? I’m from another city where the AIDS Committee hosts a weekly group for LGBT youth ages 14-18. Is there something like that here?

Response:

At this time, we are not aware of an LGBT youth group in Guelph.  There used to be a group called Pride Patrol that ran out of Out On The Shelf (OOTS), but to our knowledge, that grouped as ceased to operate for the time being. However, OOTS is a public space that is accessible for students aged 14-18 to hang-out during open hours.

Some of the local secondary schools have Gay-Straight Alliance group, notably John F Ross Collegiate and Centre Wellington District High School (Fergus). In Waterloo, OK2BME offers a range of support and counselling services to LGBTQ kids and teens.
