Are campus events/activities/clubs restricted to students?

Are there any events/activities/clubs that are restricted to U of G students only? I am not a student or alumni but would like to come to CampOut and GQE meetups, among other things.

Hey there,

Thanks for asking this question!

I contacted GQE, the Guelph Resource Centre for Gender Empowerment and Diversity(GRCGED), and CampOUT to see if their events are exclusive to U of G students. I got a resounding “NO!” from all three organizations.

GQE’s socials and volunteer meetings are open to everyone, contact them at gqe@uoguelph.ca for information about their upcoming socials.

GRCGED’s events are always open to community members unless specifically stated otherwise. Email GRCGED at grcged@gmail.com to find out about their events.

CampOUT is open to everyone, but you may encounter a focus on University-related experiences (midterm stress is an understandably popular topic at certain times of the year in student-oriented support settings). If you’re alright with hearing about the concerns of students, email CampOUT at campout@uoguelph.ca.

And of course, OUTline never turns away a call. If you need to talk, give us a shout on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. We’re open from 3:30-6pm, 6-9pm, and 1-3pm respectively.

❤ Liz

PS. As I hear back from more student organizations, I’ll try to keep updating this post. If there are other groups you had in mind specifically, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line!
