Hey there,

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been having difficulty getting the support you need from CampOut.

Unfortunately, CampOut is on hiatus right now and won’t be running this semester. This means they’re not responding to emails either 😦

Hopefully they will be back in business soon, please stay tuned for updates about CampOut here at AskOUTline.

In the mean time, what else can you do to find support?

A good place to start might be asking yourself, “what was I hoping to get out of CampOut meetings?”. From there, you might be able to lock on to some important resources to satisfy those needs.

If you were looking to connect with folks who have been there in a safe and confidential setting, give us a shout at OUTline. We’ll be open today from 6-9pm, but you can try us during any of our normal operating hours – Mondays, from 3:30-6pm, Wednesdays, from 6-9pm, and Fridays, from 1-3pm. Our trained volunteers have been there too, and are ready and waiting to help you explore your feelings. Call us at (519) 836-4550.

If making friends is what you’re after, get in touch with Guelph Queer Equality at gqe@uoguelph.ca. Their weekly socials are a great time to meet new folks and connect, and you might get to make a fun craft too.

Self-care is also really important for folks who are going through a rough time and looking for support. Consider drawing up a self-care plan by writing down all the things you do to nurture yourself. This plan might include going for a walk, listening to music, sitting quietly in the forest, or calling up a friend. Writing in a journal or doing a craft might also be on there. You can make your plan into a nice doodle to tote around in your wallet, or draw it up as a quick list that goes on your fridge. Either way, it can be a handy reference when you’re having a rough day, and a reminder that there are simple things you can do right away to start feeling better.

I hope you find that support you’re looking for, but if you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to give us a shout – we’re here for you!

All the best,<3 Liz
