What is that LGBT group on campus that meet once a week and basically just have a really chill convo for a hour? idk i saw it one online and have never been able to find it again. its not any of the clubs that are known on campus or the groups that you have posted before, but I was interested and can find it anywhere. Sorry for the lack of details 😛
Thanks for reaching out and asking us about on-campus groups! The three weekly meeting spaces/groups that are LGBTQ2IA+-specific are:
Guelph Queer Equality’s (GQE’s) socials (UPDATE: these are not taking place during the W16 semester):
- 7 – 8 pm
- UC 429
- Fun activities that vary; email email@example.com for weekly details
- Tuesdays (check facebook.com/UoGOUTline for exceptions)
- 5 – 10 pm
- The Bullring
- Social space to hang out, chat, grab a bite, and meet other LGBTQ2IA+ peeps
- 11:30 am – 12:20 pm
- Undisclosed location; email firstname.lastname@example.org for details
- Conversation topics vary and are driven by the students
The Guelph Resource Centre for Gender Empowerment and Diversity (GRCGED) is also open to stop by, chill, and socialise. They have comfy couches, free tea, and an extensive library. They’re located at UC 107 and open weekdays.
In cooperation with HIV/AIDS Resources & Community Health (ARCH), Out On the Shelf (OOTS) hosts a monthly youth group to talk about an array of topics concerning LGBTQ2IA+ youth, called Pride & Prejudice. It’s designed for queer and questioning youth ages 14-21. To find out more, email email@example.com.
Hopefully one of the aforementioned groups/events were what you saw and were interested in. If not, send us a message at qlinks.ca/outline sometime between 5 and 10 pm and we’ll do our best to find alternatives.
All the best,
UPDATE: There’s a new monthly social meet-up for trans and non-binary folks. Gender Intersect meets the 3rd Monday of every month at the Red Brick Café, 8 Douglas St., at 7 pm.
