Guelph groups for teens who aren’t out

Are there any groups in Guelph for teen who are not out of the closet yet?

Hi asker,

First off, thanks so much for reaching out to Ask OUTline! If you ever want to chat real-time with a trained LGBTQ2IA+ volunteer, don’t hesitate to visit qlinks.ca/outline any day (except Tues.) from 5-10 pm. It’s a confidential and free service that we encourage you to access.

As for your question, there are a few groups that come to mind…

First is Pride and Prejudice, “a social group that builds leadership skills through art and educational workshops for LGBTQ+ youth aged 14-21. Pizza is provided!” The group meets the third Wednesday of the month at Harcourt United Church, 87 Dean Ave. For more information, you can email education@archguelph.ca.

The second group is Rainbow Connections, run by the Self-Help Alliance. “A peer support group to talk about LGBTQ+ and mental health issues. Open to all people aged 18+ of any sexual orientation and gender expression or identity. Confidential. No registration and no fee.” If the age designation is an issue for you, you can contact Meghan at 519-763-4014 extension 2350. The group meets every Tuesday from 1:15-2:15 at 147 Wyndham St. N., Suite 207.

Last is Gender Intersect, a monthly social group for trans and non-binary folks to meet and hang out. Meet-ups are the 3rd Monday of the month at 7 pm at the Red Brick Cafe, 8 Douglas St.

We hope that helps! All the best,

Amber
